Wood Artist

David Welsh

David Welsh needed a quiet project that would not wake up his sleeping two year old grandchild he babysat.  That began the passion for woodburning and the name for his line of wood burned boxes, The Eleanor Collection.

Welsh does not stop with boxes, gourds also serve as a canvas!  Since Welch has retired from his math teaching job in Millersville, he now has time to grow the gourds.

Welsh has been coming to Cameron County since his family built a cabin in the woods 50 years ago.  It was natural that he sell his artwork at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center.

Welsh has been accepted as a Juried Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen.  It is one of the highest honors an artist in the state can receive.
