Karey keeps her roots in Cameron County even though she now lives and works in Maryland. A Cameron County High School graduate that studied art at Edinboro University, now teaches high school students jewelry, sculpture and ceramics. Karey returns to her hometown of Emporium to visit family and friends.
At the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center Karey focuses on precious metals and glass. Since powdered metal is the main industry in the county, it was a natural that Karey work with PMC. Precious metal clay is a revolutionary material developed and patented by Mitsubishi Materials. Tiny particles of pure silver or gold are suspended in an organic binder to create a material that can be worked like modeling clay. When those pieces are fired the binder burns off and you are left with a solid 100% pure gold or silver object.
