Ruth Anne Miller

Ruth Anne Miller is known nationwide for her weaving and silk scarves.  She and her husband operate a small store in Morris, which sits along Pine Creek.  Now she is recognized in her home state as a PA Wilds Juried Artist.

The Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center has her hand woven scarves which are so rich in color!  The added beading accents in the woven threads catch the light and add a bit of weight to keep it around your neck instead of blowing down the street!  Ruth Anne has taught weaving at Mansfield University since the mid 1980's and boasts that anyone can learn to weave even someone as young as three and as old as seventy!

Ruth Anne uses a Japanese technique of silk dying called Shibori.  The fabric is produced by folding, twisting, tying, stitching or clamping and then dyeing.  She has been creating unique designs for 10 years and promises you will never find two designs the same!  She adds beads to the silk scarves also to add weight, so they will not blow away.
