Several other events and projects are already in the works.  They include an art contest to design a logo for the event.  Minting of metal coin instead of a wooden nickel, the sale of playing cards that include depictions of historical sites and people, the sale of decorative banners to depict historical sites and people.

Thank you to the Sylvan Heritage Council, Cameron County Council of the Arts, Cameron County Historical Society and Cameron County Chamber of Commerce for taking on those projects.

The next item is to have more people/groups organize the details of those events that people in the community hope will happen during 2010.  Contact the chamber office at 486-4314 if you are willing to tackle a project listed here or another project that you would like to see take place.  Our next meeting will be at the end of August!  Enjoy the summer and put on those thinking caps!

Historical Fact:  Portage Township was once part of Eulalia Township in nearby Potter County.  It was named after the Portage branch of the Sinnemahoning.
